Success means different things to different people: for some it is linked to career, for some it means having a high income, for others it is linked to achievement, for others it is about the quality of their relationships an others measure success by the overall quality of their life or by inner peace or happiness. What does success mean to you?
Whatever the mind can conceive, and the mind believes, becomes your reality. That's how simple it is. Hypnotherapy and NLP can help you to generate positive self images and useful beliefs.
My formula for success is: positive self image + belief+ competence+ confidence = success!
Of the above, belief is the most important. If you imagine the life you want, feel worthy of receiving it, and can convince the subconscious mind that you can have it (actually you trick the subconscious mind into thinking you already have it), the subconscious, being the faithful servant that it is, will make it a reality.
Most people are unaware of the unconscious negative beliefs they hold which block their success. As a child you may have been taught things such as: "money is the root of all evil", " spending money on yourself whilst there are starving people in the world is selfish", "confidence = arrogance",. Your unconscious mind may have created beliefs based upon incorrect observations. For example if your parents divorced when you were a child, your unconscious may believe that all relationships are destined for failure. The media might teach a teenager that to be desirable and beautiful means to look like an anorexic.
Therefore, I examine belief systems with most of my clients who wish to have greater success in their lives. Using hypnosis and NLP I create for my clients new beliefs and positive images of the future. Behaviours are rehearsed in hypnosis until they form new habit patterns. Clients are taught to see themselves and feel like a success.
Creative visualisation is a technique which uses self hypnosis. By repeatedly imagining that you already have what you want, it appears in your life sooner or later.
Before this technique was well known, a group of businessmen used to meet secretly to practice this technique. They all became very rich.
This technique will only work if you have cleared obstacles from your mind such as poor self image, inability to receive, negative beliefs (this is why affirmations do not work for many people).
Most professional sports people use a mind technology to enhance their performance (usually hypnosis or NLP).
It is generally understood now that winning is all in the mind.
Researchers have even found that it is possible to increase levels of physical fitness by imaginary exercise in hypnosis.
CASE STUDY: THE SALESWOMAN WHO COULDN'T SELL HERSELF
Nichol (name changed), despite having an MBA, only managed to get a poorly paid junior sales job.
She was very intelligent, but clearly lacked self esteem, worried constantly, had much self doubt and suffered from mild depression and anxiety.
She came with the goal of getting a better job and tripling her income within 2 years. Never having money, she took out a loan to pay my fees (it was probably the best investment she ever made).
I suggested she needed hypno-analysis before anything else. During analysis she discovered how her mother (her father left home when she 6 and she blamed her self) had constantly put her down, punished her and told her nothing good would ever come of her.
After 6 sessions her self esteem was increased, and she was feeling more excited about life.
I then used an NLP technique called modelling. This involved Nichol learning the mental, physical and speech patterns of successful people she admired (the subconscious mind has perceived all of these before). I also reinforced this with suggestion therapy.
Finally, I taught Nichole self hypnosis and creative visualisation. She applied for a job the week after finishing therapy, attended an interview, and despite her poor track record, convinced the panel that she was the woman for the job. Her earnings doubled.
Nichol kept in touch for the 18 months. She was soon promoted to sales manager and was earning nearly 4 times as much as when she started therapy.
NOTE: I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR RESULTS MANY TIMES!
The doomed golfer Pierre (name changed)was an amateur golfer. He loved the game, and spent most Sundays playing golf with business associates. However, unlike his friends, his game just wouldn't improve.
It took just two sessions to turn Pierre's game around. During the first session we worked with NLP on a vague belief that he was no good at sport (according to his sports teacher at school). During the second session we examined this thought processes whilst swinging the golf club, and Pierre discovered that at the back of his mind was an image of him failing the shot. Using NLP (anchoring and the so called swish technique) we repatterned his cognitive process.
He phoned me three weeks later and said there was a significant difference.
Note: The mind is a quick learner. Quite probably Pierre was doing the same in other areas of his life, and the mind may have learnt simultaneously to change them too.
