Transpersonal hypnotherapy uses many of the tools of conventional hypnotherapy, but with an additional ingredient: spirituality.

Many people can only make sense of their lives in the context of spirituality. And some people find that in hypnosis they can experience their source, which in turn gives them a new perspective of life and sometimes powerful healing experiences.

Hypnosis is similar to deep meditation, and many clients find that in hypnosis they discover a calmness and peace that enables them to experience consciousness in a different, better or more holistic way.

I personally am a Buddhist (I was a Buddhist monk for 6 years) and bring to my work experience of meditation, Buddhist and Taoist philosophy and an appreciation of the work of Carl G. Jung. I respect all religions and forms of spirituality and I work with whatever belief system my client has.

Past Life work

Do past lives exist? That is a matter of personal opinion. I do believe in past lives and I am happy to work with clients who wish to explore them.

Often clients during therapy will spontaneously regress to a past life. Some clients come to me specifically to experience past life regression, whilst other clients think the solution to their problems lies in a past life.

Some times a client has experienced a past life which I thought was being used as a symbolic representation of a this life experience. However, in many cases the experiences have been evidently real. Important for me is whether the experience in some adds to the life of the client or helps them in some way.

Some clients have difficulty going beyond a medium trance. They will usually experience the past life as partly real and partly as if it is imagination--though it usually feels right.

Clients who can enter a deep state of hypnosis have a much more profound experience. It feels as if the past life is happening now.

Edgar Cayce, the renowned American who could enter very deep states of hypnosis, used to very accurately diagnose medical problems (he was a simple man with no medical knowledge) by communicating with a doctor in the "other world".

Brandon Bay's Journey

Brandon Bay's book The Journey explains a technique which utilises hypnosis, NLP, and meditation.

I have developed my own approach to such work (I have not trained in Brandon Bay's method) and will do a three hour "journey like" session.
