CASE STUDY--THE UNHAPPY WIFE
Lorna (name changed) came to see me, deeply unhappy, but not knowing why. She said she had a wonderful life, a loving husband, though no children and a job that was challenging and enjoyable. She told me she remembered very little of her childhood.

She was therefore very surprised to spend the first three sessions in tears as she remembered one negative event after another concerning her childhood and her father.

During the therapy she discovered a deep wish to have children, which had been obscured by a belief her father had taught her (this world is no place to bring a child anymore).

During the release of the Electra complex, Lorna realised that the child in her idolised her father, and she was living her life to please him--not her self.

At the end of therapy, Lorna was radically different--she said she felt in touch with herself, and was living her own life at last.

Later, her husband also went through hypno-analysis.

In the case of Lorna, many factors were causing her unhappiness. Through systematically working through her past, I was able to bring her to a new awareness which set her free.
