Children spend much of their lives in a state of hypnosis. They live in a world of wonder and imagination, hope and possibility (until some adult comes along and negatively programmes them)

If you watch the above image, and let your mind wander, perhaps remembering the past, thinking of good times, perhaps remembering a wonderful Christmas or a snowy winter, and if you let yourself daydream, you will be in a state of hypnosis. Everyone experiences hypnosis every day. Typical examples are day dreaming, watching T.V. trancing out on music, attending church, meditating, spacing out.

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness which facilitates communication with the unconscious mind.

It is between waking and sleeping and has been utilised by healers for thousands of years.

Anyone who is willing, has at least a reasonable level of intelligence and concentration, can enter hypnosis.

Even the lightest level of hypnosis can confer benefits.

In hypnosis you feel relaxed, at one with your self and very peaceful.

Contrary to popular belief you are not unconscious when in hypnosis: quite the opposite- your senses are heightened and you feel very in touch with yourself. You are aware of everything going on.

In hypnosis you are actually more in control. Nobody can make you do anything against your will or against your moral code.

Stage hypnosis is not what it appears to be. Participants have been carefully selected, groomed and conditioned. They know what they are doing, and if asked about what they did, they usually claim they went along with it for a laugh.

Stage hypnosis should not be confused with hypnotherapy. The only thing they have in common is the use of hypnosis.  You wouldn't confuse the use of a knife by a surgeon with the use of a knife by a mugger!
